City of Lawrence UX research case study

The assignment goal was to go to fandango.com and create a hierarchal task analysis for finding a movie on a Sunday afternoon. Below is the process I went through to create my analysis.

The objective of this was to collect multiple data points and find commonalities and then build a task analysis based off of your findings. In this case, the task was to build a campfire.

As I begin wrapping up the spring semester I have started putting together a presentation board that tells the story of my research and design. I still have a few items to adjust based off feedback from last class but overall, I am very pleased with how this project has turned out!

The purpose of this prototype was to create a build to think video that would present and create a discussion around the topic. My video focuses on data privacy and creating a way for users to take more control of how and when their data is being used.
As I am working on the design and user experience of my website, I incorporated a couple user tests to help make design decisions. This exercise has helped me to see how my users are interacting with the website. It has also helped me in creating and asking good research questions to help shape strategic decision making along with user friendly design.

This was my first rough draft using actual footage for my future problem design scenario video. (prototype) This was a great exercise for me to think through all the shots and any additional things I would need that I had not thought of before actually going through this.
I had to use my husband as a stand in actor for this version and that was a fun challenge in itself. Overall, I think the story is really coming together. We reviewed our videos in class and the main feedback I got overall was that it was a little “flat”. I plan to add some more emotion and drama into the actor/script when shooting the final video.
We were also tasked with filling out a CAST model to help work through some of the process and meaning behind it all. I am excited to start filming the real deal and am thankful I have this great template to work with as a guide.

For our final project for this semester, we were to think of a far-future (around 2050) potential challenge and design a potential solution. The final will be a video prototype to present and explain the idea. I decided to focus on artificial intelligence and its dominance in our lives.
Over the last few weeks we have created audience models, territory maps, elevator pitches, story boards, build to test/learns and animatic videos to prepare for our final design solution.
